Private sessions are conducted at my main clinic just outside the village of Ballintra and every Wednesday in Buncrana. An appointment is necessary, which can be booked by telephone or email. Total confidentiality is ensured. Some people like to avail of a free consultation so that they can have any questions answered in person before they decide to proceed. I am very happy to do this as it gives me an opportunity to gauge their motivation and desire to stop smoking

The Breathe With Ease™ has been developed and tested after extensive research into the best methods and approaches currently being used today. It is based upon identifying your unique needs. This is important as it allows me to develop a solution that will work for you. The session is broken down into three sections. Part one is where I get to find out all about you and your requirements. I take a detailed history and we highlight your smoking triggers. This helps me to decide on the type of approach I will use in the therapy session later. Next, you get to find out all about me and what hypnosis is, what it can do for you and just as importantly what it doesn’t do. It is important that you understand the process and feel comfortable with me and the work I will be doing with you. So please ask plenty of questions. Finally we move onto the hypnosis session. This is your chance to chill out and unwind. It really is a pleasant, relaxing experience.


So what do you need to be successful?
The most important thing is that you have a real desire to quit, and that you are doing it for yourself. I don’t mind if you have doubts about being able to stop, that is normal but you must have a genuine desire

Secondly to be successful you need to understand that you will have to make an effort. Some people have an unrealistic expectation of what the hypnotherapy will do. It is not magic and although it is extremely powerful in helping you to change the way you feel, think and behave about smoking, you have to put in some effort.

Finally you have to open up your mind to the possibility that you can quit smoking and that it can be much easier than you might have thought possible. Don’t concern yourself with passed failed attempts to stop. Every successful ex-smoker that I know tried to kick the habit several times before they were eventually successful. Using hypnosis to affect change at a subconscious level is the secret. Remember it is the most effective method for ridding yourself of the curse of tobacco.

What is hypnosis like?
The truth is that trance is a very common, every day event for us all. Hypnosis occurs when our mind is so intently focussed on one thing that we bypass our critical conscious mind and we access the deeper subconscious part of our awareness. If you have ever had a daydream, you have enjoyed a light trance.

Although every person enjoys hypnosis in their own individual way, there are some things that we all experience in trance. Firstly, hypnosis produces a profound state of physical and mental relaxation. In fact the researchers tell us that twenty minutes of hypnosis is as good as four hours of deep sleep. However, although your eyes are closed and you are relaxed to the core of your being, you are not asleep or unconscious. On the contrary you are very aware of everything that is going on around you. You hear every sound and know exactly what is happening at all times. If I ask you a question you will be perfectly able to answer although you may not want to be disturbed out of your comfort. Secondly, you will only accept those ideas and suggestions that you know are sensible and relevant to your needs, so on that basis you are in full and complete control. You will find that hypnosis is the most pleasant, deeply relaxing experience that you have ever enjoyed.
